Loch near Elgol

Some of the waterways in Scotland are perfect mirrors. Lobbing rocks into the water means you can actually tell which way up the picture should go! The light was perfect at the time and really just a chance stop as the reeds in the picture were actually the original focus.

Waterfall

Well everyone should have a good waterfall picture. This is one of mine, taken with 17-55mm f2.8 set around 20mm polariser + grad gray ND8.

Dinner

Another one from the wildlife park (It was such a good day as you can see from Johns Blogs). To keep this clean I have avoided the blood splattered snow (for now) as the wolf gnaws at some lovely raw venison. The Snow makes such a fantastic backdrop. 70-200mm f2.8

Thermals

Along the coast of Skye just of the side of the road is a fantastic Waterfall. These Seagulls were just going in eratic circles around. Simply a matter of waiting for the right moment. Shot with the 70-200mm f2.8.

The latest coat stand fashion. Much better on the live animal though me thinks.

More Wildlife Please

So here's another image from the Highlands Wildlife Park. While I would really love to tell you that we'd tracked these animals in the wilderness of the Scottish Higlands, that would be unfair. This un-cropped image was taken through two wire fences without any visible lines.

What u looking at!

One of the more successful pics from the trip. Some of the Scottish Highland Wildlife ... needs some work on it yet. Loads more to follow.

The Crow

Simone wanted a picture of a crow and has been asking me to shoot one (with a camera) for ages.

This was taken on the banks of Loch Ness quite late in the evening on route to Skye on Saturday evening.

500mm f4.5 ISO 800

Landscape from Skye

My next image was taken on our last day on Skye before the weather finally got the better of us. We were on our way back from Elgol when we spotted this lake surrounded my mountains. We managed to capture a couple of images before the sun finally went down.

First one from our trip to Skye & Inverness

Sitting in Starbucks in Inverness drinking some stupidly expensive coffee (called Starbucks for a reason) waiting for our flight so I thought I would get a couple of images onto the Blog. So what first, Landscapes of Skye, Wildlife of Inverness and Avimore. Today my first blog will be of a toad, I know... We were walking down from our 6am hike to the Old Man of Storr when I spotted this little chap in the middle of the path. Chris hadn't spotted him so he was nearly flattened. Taken on the 50mm f2.8 Macro lens.

From the top

Tongue in cheek I know, but John and Rob “From the top”
hours waiting on the beach for the sun to be just right.
It was worth the wait though!

P.S. This is not my entry for the monthly chalenge...

Kingfisher taken this morning.

Weather, dark miserable and wet. So what do I do? go for another walk around the nature reserve. I took this shot of a Kingfisher on the 500mm with 1.4x at ISO 800. Not that happy with the colour/contrast and exposure it's also a little shaky.

Another from Portland Bill

Taken just before Chris was engulfed (camera and all) in a large wave. Need to go back here when it's warmer and take some more shots 30 minutes after sunset.

Portland Bill

One to get me started .. of the several hundred photos take at Portland Bill and nearly being swept away by a wave in the process this is my favourite picture. Lets see what Scotland brings …

Fingers crossed..

It's my turn now - not quite a new shot, but I've submitted this under the 'Street' theme over at JPGMag.com. Results will be published soon, so keep those fingers crossed.

I actually borrowed John's 20-40mm Sigma for this too :)

First post - aaah

I suppose (having created this blog in the first place) start off by adding a new image... OK, first test of the Sigma 500mm 4.5 taken at my local nature reserve in Ardingly (http://www.rbgkew.org.uk/whatsnew/wp_loder25.html). Now I know this has a few problems but it really is a first attempt with said piece of equipment (you should have seen the others)
